On this week’s segment of “Lutherans You Should Know”, Pastor Riley relates the story of Philipp Nicolai, a German Lutheran pastor and hymnodist who wrote hymns and served as pastor in the midst of a plague and other hardships. Surrounded by death, Nicolai demonstrated the need for Christ, not just on Sunday, not just once a month or two or three times a year, but every single day. There is a tendency in our culture to not think about death, to avoid it and to hide those who are sick and dying.
