The Bible Guide to Podcasting – Gospeled Boldly #68

The Bible Guide to Podcasting – Gospeled Boldly #68

Our opening horrific scene stars Jason… but not in the way you’d think. In this episode, Pastor Eric Brown and Thomas Lemke dive into the Bible and read about hospitable Christians getting extorted. Then the noble missionaries split the party, and Paul goes into the pagan hub of the ancient world to proclaim peace on Mars Hill.

In the Backwards Life, Pastor Brown addresses the question of whether it’s okay to read things besides the Bible.

In the Grip of the Python – Gospeled Boldly #67

Serpents offering forbidden knowledge? Say it ain’t so! In this episode, Pastor Eric Brown and Thomas Lemke read about Paul’s journey through Macedonia, where he and Silas were beaten and jailed for interrupting some demonic commerce. Speaking of commerce: how would you like to buy a robe colored with snails?

In the Backwards Life, Pastor Brown examines why divination and fortune telling is… just stupid.

The Letter of the Law – Gospeled Boldly #66

Don’t worry, you can still eat bacon. In this episode, Pastor Eric Brown and Thomas Lemke read about the Jerusalem Council, and the decision they reach regarding whether gentiles must observe Jewish customs to be saved. James gets down to brass tacks and uses the Old Testament to come to a solution everyone can agree on. Then it’s back on the road for our good good missionary disciples!

In the Backwards Life, Pastor Brown turns the tables and puts Thomas on the spot, asking why Christians still uphold the sexual standards put forth in the Old Testament, but not the dietary ones? This also had the effect of prompting Thomas to start a series on the subject for his blog at thechifiles.com/laws.

Now you see me, now you don’t – Gospeled Boldly #64

[ download ]

Son of Jesus, why you no Gospel? Talk about ironic misnomers! In this episode, Pastor Eric Brown and Thomas Lemke read about the first missionary journey of Paul and Barnabas. They have dealings with an unscrupulous magician, and get rejected by the Jews when they go “mainstream” and begin to attract gentile followers to Christ.

In the Backwards Life, Pastor Brown talks about the intersection between the study of history and systematic approaches to the faith.
