The first half of HT-Radio: Episode 102 deals with the innovative, exciting, …rather dead topic of “Death and Dying” with the President of Higher Things – Rev. William Cwirla. Then, Pr. Borghardt is joined once again by the Rev. Joel Fritsche. Pr. Fritsche goes through the last three chapters of Lamentations always pointing to Christ and the Gospel.

The eighth episode of Higher Things Radio features the staff of Higher Things Internet Services, those swell guys who take care of the website and all of the resources available on it! Starting with Stan Lemon, Pastor Borghardt will interview him in a “Lemon’s Lectionary” segment on the festival of St. James the Less. Then Pastor Borghardt will interview Stan’s Boss, The Rev. Mark Buetow of Bethel Lutheran Church in Du Qoin, IL. Pastor Buetow will discuss Holy Baptism, getting wet and rejoicing in the Gospel! Lastly, The Rev. Rich Heinz of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lanesville, IN will return as a guest for HTR’s “Is this a sin” segment. Will Pastor Heinz be able to handle the hot seat? Tune in and find out!

Blessed All Saints Day to you! In a special conversion issue, recorded live on Pastor Borghardt’s new Mac, Higher Things will bring you the Gospel in your ears and on your iPod. After opening with a monologue, Pastor Borghardt will interview Rev. Rich Heinz on All Saints Day and what this special festival is all about. He’ll point us to the Gospel as we remember those who have gone before us to be with the Lord. In conclusion Pastor Borghardt will talk to Stan Lemon in Lemon’s Lectionary about the end of the church year as we approach the final Sundays before Advent.

Mark Buetow to talk about the Resurrection of Jesus. As they walk through the scripture accounts, they debunk myths claiming Christ did not rise. Pr. Buetow also finds the opportunity to point us to our baptism.

In the 28th episode of Higher Things Radio Pastor Borghardt opens with a monologue, discussing Reminiscere Sunday – that would be the second Sunday of Lent. He’ll explain how Reminiscere is a latin word from the introit for this Sunday that means “remember”, and the remembering we do this week is not our remembering of Jesus but his remember of us. Pastor Borghardt will then to take us to the faith of the Canaanite woman, the faith we look to during the season of Lent. Next Pastor Borghardt interviews The Rev. William Cwirla of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hacienda Heights and also the President of Higher Things on his favorite hymns in Lent. Pastor Cwirla takes you through the hymns in Lutheran Service Book pointing his favorites out along the way and directing us to the gift of Christ crucified in our Lenten hymnody.

Happy Reformation! This week we’ll be celebrating the Festival of Reformation in episode 9 of Higher Things Radio. In a brand new segment called “Define the Terms”, Pastor Borghardt will pose Rev. Brent Kuhlman with a word and ask him to define it in a simple way for Lutheran youth. This week’s word is “Justification”, tune in to hear Pastor Kuhlman catechize us about this often used and often misunderstood word. In a foretaste of the feast to come, Pastor Borghardt will interview Rev. William Weedon on the Reformation. Pastor Weedon will be one of the plenary speakers at this summer’s conferences Sola. Join Pastor Weedon as he discusses the Reformation.

The third episode of Higher Things Radio opens up with an interview with Stan Lemon on Holy Cross Day and the Gospel delivered for you in this ancient festival of the Church. Then Pastor Borghardt will interview Pastor Mark Buetow of Du Qoin, IL on a sectional that he delivered at this summer’s Higher Things Conference entitled, “Enemies at the Gate”. Together they’ll take a look at the devil, the world and our sinful flesh and how as Christians we fight and resist these things by virtue of the Gospel. Pastor Buetow will also answer the question, were we created sinful? In the segment, “Is this a sin?” Pastor Borghardt will cold-call Pastor Jonathan Baker of Mount Pleasant, Michigan.

They will go in search of the Gospel and take a new look at some of the parables you know best.
