Dear everyone,

As the campus ministry arm of Higher Things, Christ on Campus seeks to connect high-school and college age youth with faithful Lutheran campus ministries and assist congregations and campus ministries in their faithful service to Lutheran college students.

We are pleased to unveil what we believe will be a key component in doing just that!

CHRIST ON CAMPUS CHAPTERS

Connect with other Lutheran campus ministries committed to providing Biblical and Confessional catechesis, solid liturgical practice, and faithful pastoral care.

Who is eligible to become a Christ on Campus Chapter?

Any Lutheran congregation or campus ministry organization may apply to become a Higher Things Christ on Campus Chapter. Those who might consider joining the Christ on Campus Chapter network include:

  • Full-time campus ministries
  • Congregations committed to part-time campus ministry and outreach at their local college, university, community college, or vocational institute
  • Other campus ministry related organizations
  • Groups desirous of planting a campus outreach where none presently exist

College Student Volunteers are Back!

Dear everyone,

You spoke. We listened. The opportunity for college students to serve as conference volunteers is back by popular demand!

There are 15 spots available this year for college students who would like to serve as volunteers at The Feast. While Higher Things conferences are open to all college students this is an opportunity for some college students to participate as volunteers at a reduced rate (50% off of registration).

You can apply as soon as you can fill out the form and send it in. The application is self-explanatory.

To download the College Student Application:
http://higherthings.org/imgs/thefeast/CollegeStudentVolunteerApplication.pdf

Applications will be received until March 1st and notifications of those college students who have been selected will be made by March 15th. Those who are selected, and who have not yet registered for The Feast, will have the opportunity to do so at that time.

If you have questions about applying as a college student volunteer please feel free contact either of us.

The Feast is Full!

Dear everyone,

The Feast is full!

Wow! This is by far the fastest a Higher Things conference has been filled, some 20 days before the deadline. We have received a landslide of registrations in the last week. As of tonight, we have not only surpassed capacity (1250) but a waiting list is being developed with approximately 130 people.

If you recently sent in your registrations, but have not yet received confirmation as to your group’s status, please be patient. You will be notified shortly to either confirm that your group is registered or that you have been placed on the waiting list.

There is a good possibility that several groups on the waiting list will still be able to come to The Feast. We will also, without doubt, have a few cancellations.

If you have not yet registered, you may still do so to get on the waiting list. If you don’t get in, your deposits will be returned to you, so there isn’t anything to lose. We will maintain the waiting list until June 1.

If your group’s registration has already been confirmed, and you know of a cancellation, or if someone decides to give away their spot, please inform us as soon as possible, so that others might attend The Feast.

While we are thrilled with what is already the largest response to any Higher Things Conference to date, we regret that many may not be able to come to The Feast!

If your group is not able to attend, we encourage you to begin making plans to join us in 2007. We are pleased to announce that there will be not one, but two, Higher Things conferences in 2007. An announcement about the dates and locations of next year’s conferences will be coming in the next couple of weeks.

More information on the great plans we have for The Feast are coming in the next 4-6 weeks. Please remember to check out all the information at www.TheFeastOnline.org and stay tuned for future announcements. A mailing to all registered groups will be forthcoming in mid/late March.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at:

The Feast is 3/4 Full!

Dear everyone,

Wow! The banquet hall is getting filled!

Just 15 days ago we announced that The Feast was 1/2 Full. Well, it is now 3/4 full, with well over 900 registrants!

Again, registration will remain open until February 28th or until we reach capacity, whichever comes first. However, at this rate, it would not be surprising to have to begin a waiting list around the middle of this month.

If you are planning to still come, we urge you get your materials off to us as soon as possible. When registration is at capacity we will announce the beginning of the waiting list.

Again, please remember that everything you need to register for The Feast is available at www.TheFeastOnline.org.

If you can’t get your questions answered there, please feel free to contact us at:

Pre-Lenten Reflections

I grew up up in South Louisiana where we would let the good times roll until the day before Ash Wednesday (known as “Mardi Gras” or “Shrove Tuesday”). At midnight on Ash Wednesday, all the celebrations would cease and people would start the season of Lent. But, until then, we partied until right before we had to repent.

That’s not how it goes in the Christian Church. Ash Wednesday is not a day in which we buckle down and start repentance and faith. The Church has traditionally paused for a period of three weeks before Ash Wednesday to start preparing for the season of Lent.

This year, Higher Things is very excited to provide daily Gospel Reflections written by the Reverend Grant A. Knepper for the season of Pre-Lent. Pastor Knepper is the Director of Congregational Support at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, IN.

You can down load the booklet here or receive them daily in your email by sending any e-mail to: Reflections-on@lists.higherthings.org.

May the Lord the fill your Lenten preparation with His Words and promises.

Coming to the Feast A Day Early?

Many groups plan to come early to The Feast to take advantage of some of the great sightseeing/recreational possibilities in the Colorado Springs area prior to the start of the conference.

The Feast is offering early registration/check-in on July 17th, rooms for the night, and one meal (Tuesday breakfast) on campus for an additional $50 per registrant. We are making arrangements for some great activities on campus for Monday evening and Tuesday morning.

More information about this, and detailed information about various planned and coordinated activities, will be mailed to all groups attending The Feast after registration closes.

Want to help HT?

Internet Services is very excited to announce behind the scenes changes in our software that will allow further participation in this website by …. YOU.  We are looking for volunteers for web-design projects, audio editing for our media section, graphics design, copy and theological editing, writers, and those who just want to help out because they love HT like we do.

Who could not?  Higher Things is liturgically Lutheran and loving every minute of it!  Have you checked the new issue of the magazine?  It totally rocks!  Christ on Campus is blazing a trail that no campus ministry has ever gone before!  And “The Feast?”  Oh my!  The Lord just continues to make things better and better!

The Lord has given us so much to do that we need more hands to do it!  Are you interested in helping out?  Drop us an email or catch us at our reception at the Symposia this week.
