For You: Ridgecrest and the Biltmore!

Howdy!

That’s how we say “Hello!” in the South! We are happy to unveil a new section of our FOR YOU site set aside for North Carolina Free Time Information.  Check it out here!  As you can see, there are many exciting activities at Ridgecrest only a few steps away! You probably won’t even want to leave the site during the course of FOR YOU in North Carolina.

Biltmore Estate!

But, if your group would like to explore tourism in the surrounding area, check out the the Biltmore Estate!   The Biltmore is the largest privately owned home in the United States.  Built between the years of 1888 and 1895 by the Vanderbilts, this mansion is over 175,000 square feet!  That’s just the house and doesn’t include the grounds and vineyards!  It’s the site to see in Asheville!

Look for Asheville travel information to be posted soon! We’ll see y’all in Asheville!

Congratulations Cards Fans!

Congratulations Cardinals Fans!!! What a great series, played by two great teams! In the end though, only one team could take the series, and so I extend some serious props to five well-played games, four of them championed by the St. Louis Cardinals – Who, by the way, are the only team Higher Things has ever bought tickets to for one of it’s annual conferences. Does that make them the official major league baseball team of Higher Things, Inc.? Blogger Smiley Again, Congratulations Card’s fans on winning an excellent series!

Fall Issue in the Mail

Watch for your mailman, because the newest Higher Things has left the building! Be sure to look for articles by our two new catechists for the upcoming For You conferences.

Pastor Brent Kuhlmann discusses Confession and Absolution, what’s true, what’s not, and what comfort can be found in it, reminding us that “We trust what He’s done on the cross and what He says and gives in His spoken Word of pardon.  What Christ has forgiven is forgiven.”

The other catechist, Pastor Todd Wilken, explains why most people think that Jesus is nothing but nice. But he also explains why nice just may not cut it, saying, “If God were nice, He would have just ignored your sin rather than sending Jesus to take your place at the cross. . . .  Jesus dying for you on the cross isn’t nice, but it is enough.”

Can’t get enough of these two great pastors? Well then, keep your eye out for the next issue, get your friends to subscribe to Higher Things, and be sure to attend one of our conferences!

Go Tigers!

I have sat back and watched as other folks involved with Higher Things have rooted for the Cards as well as the Mets, and I haven’t said a thing… but tonight… I’m rooting for my team, the Detroit Tigers, and the Cards fans better watch out. Blogger Smiley
