Heaven and Earth

Creation or Evolution? Does it even matter?

We confess in the Apostle’s Creed that, “I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth.” But a lot (like, a LOT) of people actually don’t believe that. It seems like practically everyone thinks that everything came about by random chance. How can we respond to those who don’t believe in this wonderful gift of Creation? Is it possible to take the middle ground and say that both creation AND evolution are somehow possible?

Come and join us for what promises to be a fascinating discussion of creation and evolution with Pastor Christian Tiews from Grace Lutheran Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

When: January 7-8, 2011
Where: Holy Cross Lutheran Church / 1100 Market Street / Carlisle, Iowa
Cost: $30/person ($20/person Saturday ONLY)
RSVP: Pastor Kevin Johnson at (515) 989-3841 or johnsonknc@aol.com or Sandra Ostapowich at (888) 482-6630 or retreats@higherthings.org

First Stump the Pastor Video Posted

On Monday, November 1st Higher Things took to the road in Stump the Pastor Across America. The goal was simple, could we throw a theological question at Pastor Borghardt that was so difficult he would squirm and struggle? The rules were even simpler, the questions were yours and Pastor Borghardt had no idea what they would be until we asked them. Twelve hundred miles later we’ve stopped all across America and stumped Pastor Borghardt. The first of our road trip videos are now uploaded and online and you can check them out on YouTube here.

Stump the Pastor: Across America

As many of you know Pastor Borghardt, host of HT-Radio, accepted a Divine Call to serve as Pastor of Zion Lutheran Church in McHenry, IL. On November 1st Pastor Borghardt will be packing up his family and leaving Texas on a three day road trip to Illinois. We thought it’d be fun to take our HT-Radio segment Stump the Pastor with Pastor Borghardt as he drives a moving truck across America!

Each night of the trip we’ll post short video clips of Pastor Borghardt answering your questions while he drives his moving truck! We won’t tell him what the questions are before they are asked and the video will be completely candid. You can send us your questions on Twitter or by e-mail StumpThePastor@higherthings.org All question submissions will be completely anonymous and the more difficult they are the better!

We’ll post the videos on YouTube and Facebook and link to them on our website. Plus, during the trip we’ll be talking about Jesus from our twitter account @StumpThePastor

Keep an eye out for our Stump the Pastor videos at these sites:
