Maundy Thursday is “Love Others Thursday”

 

 

When you know who you are, and Whose you are, you don’t have to worry about being in the top spot. You can love others as He has loved you. Jesus is God, all things are His, and He serves others with His whole life. Only when you know who and Whose you are — the Father’s beloved child — can you look at others, love them, and put their needs before your own.

The Lord’s Supper and the Cross (What’s UP? Wednesday)

 

 

The cross is where your salvation was won. The Supper is where your salvation is delivered. The sacrament delivers the cross to you. The remembrance of the Supper is not that you remember the cross but, that in the delivery of the Body and Blood of Jesus, God remembers the cross. We need God to deal with us in the suffering and death of His Son for us.

The TRUE Glory of God (Lectionary Monday)

 

 

The glory and majesty of God is not found in the shekinah, not in the pillars of fire and smoke, not in the burning bush. It’s not found in that feeling that you have when you’re singing your favorite hymn. It’s not in the sky or the cosmos. The true glory and majesty of Almighty God is found in the suffering and death of Jesus on the cross for you.

“Hosanna” and the Gift of Palm Sunday (Saturday Special)

 

 

As Jesus rides in to Jerusalem, the people wave their palm branches, a symbol of peace, in the city of peace, for the King who brings peace. And as they did, they cried out the Hebrew word, “Hosanna,” which means, “Save us, Lord.” That really applies to today! Save us, Lord! Save us from sickness, this virus, fear…and  from death. Save us from our sins.

Higher Things’ Let Us Pray VBS delivers all that to your children over a 5-day curriculum, which is specifically designed to highlight the knowledge and enthusiasm of your church’s youth for God’s Word. We believe the talents of your church’s youth can play an important role in engaging an even younger generation and teaching them to recognize God’s gifts to us in His Word and Sacraments. These might not the Last Days because there’s a virus, they ARE – because He SAID He’s coming soon. Don’t fear that you’re being punished, He loves you. He’s coming to save you.

Reflections for Easter 2020 Now Available

Higher Things® is pleased to provide free daily devotions, called “Reflections” for youth and their families.  These Reflections are centered in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and are based upon each day’s texts from the weekly readings in the one-year lectionary and from Luther’s Small Catechism.

Higher Things® presents Daily Reflections for Easter, April 12th through May 30th.  Reflections are available as a printable booklet and in a variety of formats. Large print booklets are not available for Easter, but in your print window you can magnify font size before clicking print.
