Maundy Thursday is “Love Others Thursday”

When you know who you are, and Whose you are, you don’t have to worry about being in the top spot. You can love others as He has loved you. Jesus is God, all things are His, and He serves others with His whole life. Only when you know who and Whose you are — the Father’s beloved child — can you look at others, love them, and put their needs before your own.

The Lord’s Supper and the Cross (What’s UP? Wednesday)

The cross is where your salvation was won. The Supper is where your salvation is delivered. The sacrament delivers the cross to you. The remembrance of the Supper is not that you remember the cross but, that in the delivery of the Body and Blood of Jesus, God remembers the cross. We need God to deal with us in the suffering and death of His Son for us.

Why Jesus Came into the World (Bad Theology Tuesday)

Jesus did not come into the world to be your friend. He didn’t come to be a hero. He didn’t come to be a revolutionary. Jesus came into the world to die. It’s that simple…yet that profound. Everything in the universe that happened was about Jesus’s holy life and bitter sufferings and death for you. That’s what the Bible and Christianity are all about.

The TRUE Glory of God (Lectionary Monday)

The glory and majesty of God is not found in the shekinah, not in the pillars of fire and smoke, not in the burning bush. It’s not found in that feeling that you have when you’re singing your favorite hymn. It’s not in the sky or the cosmos. The true glory and majesty of Almighty God is found in the suffering and death of Jesus on the cross for you.

“Hosanna” and the Gift of Palm Sunday (Saturday Special)

As Jesus rides in to Jerusalem, the people wave their palm branches, a symbol of peace, in the city of peace, for the King who brings peace. And as they did, they cried out the Hebrew word, “Hosanna,” which means, “Save us, Lord.” That really applies to today! Save us, Lord! Save us from sickness, this virus, fear…and  from death. Save us from our sins.

Surviving Holy Week without Going to Church (Fun Word Friday)

Just because you can’t go to church, it doesn’t mean you can’t gather around the Lord’s Words and promises for you in Scripture. So make this Holy Week full of the Lord’s Words with your family. Gather up all the devotional materials you can (like HT’s FREE Daily Reflections). And be around the Lord’s Words and let them be a gift to you.

Watch Your Boasting (Bible Study Thursday)

All the things you are tempted to boast in which are not the cross of Christ — whether it’s your life change, your decision, or how much much better you are than you used to be — are all great things to do (good job!). But none of them help you stand before God. Only Christ saves you. Everything else is varying degrees of of not-Jesus. Only Jesus saves you.

2020 Let Us Pray VBS Now Available

Zoom 2020 VBS Thumbnail.png

Now Available

Learn more about Let Us Pray and Download a Preview of Day 1

Our Lord has invited us to pray the straightforward words of the Lord’s Prayer with great confidence. When we do, we can trust that: our Holy Father keeps His promises, He desires to save us through the Holy Spirit, He ensures we have everything thing we need, and He grants to us forgiveness of sins through Christ, who has triumphed over temptation for us.

Higher Things’ Let Us Pray VBS delivers all that to your children over a 5-day curriculum, which is specifically designed to highlight the knowledge and enthusiasm of your church’s youth for God’s Word. We believe the talents of your church’s youth can play an important role in engaging an even younger generation and teaching them to recognize God’s gifts to us in His Word and Sacraments. It’s our desire that this curriculum will help both the young and the young at heart to bring the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ to the children of your congregation and community.

Are We Living in the Last Days? (What’s UP? Wednesday)

[embedhttps://youtu.be/ZWY6qMPz5ps[/embed]

Are we living in the last days? Is Jesus coming soon? Well, yes. But we shouldn’t think that He’s coming because there’s a plague. He’s coming because He SAID He’s coming. These might not the Last Days because there’s a virus, they ARE – because He SAID He’s coming soon. Don’t fear that you’re being punished, He loves you. He’s coming to save you.
